Democrats "Rush"ing To Judgement

By Doug Wrenn

October 08, 2007

Newsflash: the naked emperor has returned, but we're still supposed to believe that he is wearing new clothes.

The uproar emanating from Rush Limbaugh's recent remark about "phony soldiers" wreaks far more of several seized and created opportunities than it does of one mere coincidence.

The popular conservative radio talk show host has already explained that he was specifically referring Jesse MacBeth and others like him in the remark, made in the context of a conversation with a caller to his show. MacBeth, an opponent of the war in Iraq, was discharged as being unfit from the Army, and contrary to his claims, he was never a Ranger, never served in Iraq and never committed or witnessed any war crimes. In fact, MacBeth never made it past boot camp.

Meanwhile, the US Senate has been tying up their valuable but limited time on the taxpayers' dime droning on in debate about this issue as if it was actually a substantive matter. During his diatribe, Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) even ridiculed Rush Limbaugh by making a cutting and sarcastic remark about his recent addiction to painkillers. Funny how during his last of several escapades, we heard of poor Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), that he is struggling with a "disease," and no one dared crack wise about it. Apparently, "addiction" is in the eye of the partisan beholder!

In part, this is all because for several members of Congress and presidential wannabes, this is an election year (bearing in mind that they now start campaigning two years in advance). The bought and paid for Democrats are still stinging from their refusal to apologize for, or distance themselves from a hideous Moveon.org add, which lampooned General Petraeus as "General Betray Us" during his recent report to Congress regarding the military surge of troops in Iraq. Apparently, nether the Dems nor their well-funded catalyst, which could be aptly named "Soros, Inc.," never figured that even among their whacked out, sordid and loopy liberal base, some citizens are actually patriotic Americans first and party members second.

The timing is also about right, given the recent endeavors from the loons of the left to resurrect the "Fairness Doctrine," put to rest during the Reagan years, which in effect, would dilute, if not nullify the free speech of conservative talk radio, which has been a thorn in the Democrat's side since that time. While the left has enjoyed unchallenged and unabashedly biased news reporting and a monopoly thereof in the so-called "mainstream" print and TV media for decades, they now feel threatened by the successful conservative emergence of the opposition on radio. Limbuagh's genuinely innocuous remark is now being contorted and manipulated to fuel the Democrats' tyrannical agenda, and an otherwise non-existent issue has now been fabricated for it. As Rush recently noted, even more of such tactics can be expected if Hillary, et al win the White House in 2008. Sadly, current polls so far show that possibility being more of a probability, and thus, Rush's sage observations and theory are well worth serious contemplation for lovers of American liberty of any affiliation status.

Also jumping into the fight is retired general and former presidential wannabe, Wesley Clark, who is pushing to have Rush's show removed from Armed Forces radio, a pretty ironic endeavor, given that most of the listeners of that network probably agree with Rush's recent commentary about MacBeth, and similar ilk, and also agree with Rush in supporting this war. Apparently in our nation today, speech is free when you bash a highly decorated soldier and patriot, but not when you bash a liar, a traitor, and Heaven forbid, the fifth column puppets, otherwise known as the Democrat Party, and their affluent and powerful handlers, Moveon.org. Faust is apparently now a sequel, and coming soon to a voter booth near you.

Much like in Wonderland, things here are getting "curiouser" and "curiouser." As Senator and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton recently had to eat a big piece of humble pie and return approximately $850,000 donated by the notoriously corrupt Norman Hsu, given the well published and similarly soiled reputation of George Soros, who is the chief sugardaddy for Moveon.org, several Democrat candidates and elected officials should likewise be put under the microscope. For that matter, one of the organizations jumping on this recent bandwagon against Rush is Media Matters, a group admittedly organized by Hillary Clinton, but of course, no conflict of interest exists there.

Even if Rush's remarks about our troops, dissenting or otherwise, were inappropriate, he is a commentator of opinions, as am I. Rush merely expressed an opinion. There is a gap wide enough to drive a truck through between pundits expressing opinions, even if those expressed opinions are disparaging our troops, and officials from their own government doing it, such as Senators Kennedy, Kerry, Durbin, Obama, Schumer, Reid, and Congressman John Murtha. Calling Jessie MacBeth what he truly is, a "phony soldier" is a far cry from calling our troops "Nazi's," referring to Saddam's torture chambers as being "under new management," referring to military detention facilities, accusing our soldiers of raiding civilians and committing atrocities and war crimes, calling the war "lost," dissing our soldiers and giving the war lords credit for the surge, inferring that minorities in the military can't do anything else, etc… Call this patriotic American crazy, but that seems like a heck of a way for our government so-called "leaders" to fight a war! Like it or not, expressing an opinion of any kind is still allowed in this country, at least so far, but with liberty reasonably and realistically also comes responsibility, and we theoretically hold our government officials to a higher standard, even if they are incapable and/or unwilling to reach such a high standard. In comparing what Rush said to the past insidious remarks made by the afore mentioned charlatans of the sacred public trust during time of war, the significance between the two examples is about as close as the basement is to the roof of a typical metropolitan skyscraper.

This entire shameful and choreographed attack on Rush from the very radical left is the textbook illustration of the absolute intrinsic evil and deeply entrenched corruption that now exists in the modern Democrat Party, which would make now passed on notable Democrats such as Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy and even "Tip" O'Neil roll over in their graves. The power of major corrupt, multi-national, and yes, corporate elitists has infiltrated and is now dominating the currently hijacked Democrat Party, as we now see in several issues, including ever-returning and contentious issue of illegal immigration and with the war in Iraq, which more and more seems like a war that the Democrats actually want us to lose as long as they win the 2008 election, and the lives, safety and security of their constituents, Democrat, Republican or otherwise, be damned. Free speech, be it conservative, liberal, concurring, or dissenting is only the tip of the iceberg at what is now at stake in our country, now, in 2008, and beyond.

Our only hope is for people like Rush to keep freely talking, and for people like me to keep freely writing, and for sadly, all too many of you out there, the fat, dumb, happy, sleepy electorate, to pay a little less attention to Britney, and a lot more attention to Hillary. Hint: Hillary will be the one who is equally strident, but far more off key.
