"3 Strikes" Strikes Out! How Many More Petits Are Enough? By Doug Wrenn September 24, 2007 Despite the impassioned throngs that recently gathered at a Cheshire rally to direct a unified voice of rage to our legislature that our state's parole system needs reform, the Democrats and their minions cavalierly slammed the door shut and replied with a resounding, "NO!" How does that feel, Dr. Petit? Somebody, please pinch me so that I can wake up from this nightmare! What happened in Cheshire to the Petit family is like a mini-September 11th on the state level. Meanwhile, I am seeing conniving, liberal, loony pea-wits like Lawlor, McDonald, et al in Hartford holding up banners saying "Betray Us!" while they point at their Republican colleagues. Like with September 11th, I also ask, "How many more Petits are enough?" There is no logic, no rationale, nor reason, nor even any excuse for these cold hearted "pinnacles of compassion" to so quickly turn their backs on not only the lone survivor of a senseless atrocity, but on all of us as well, potential future victims of torture and slaughter by the animals among us and their elitist legislative conspirators in four digit suits. This is the very textbook illustration of the darkest side of liberalism: convoluted thought and accessory to sheer evil. Governor Rell and I seldom see eye to eye, but on this occasion, the liberal "RINO" governor I have so often criticized now has captured my heart. Unlike the other liberals, Gov. Rell is not hiding behind evasive euphemisms like "complex." Even she recognizes this is not a "complex" situation, but rather an egregious wrong to be righted, and forthwith. To wit, Gov. Rell has now banned all parole for our state's most violent lesser ilk until that ilk's cronies in Hartford come to their senses and not just reform our dysfunctionally broken, inept and dangerous parole system, but also step up to their primary duty: protecting the people of the State of Connecticut. Even former ("RINO") legislator and current Parole Board Chairman Robert Farr is backing the Governor's action. Now, from this Connecticut citizen, Governor Rell and Chairman Farr, I say stick to your guns because this will be a long fight and the stakes are far too high for compromise. While I am not Bill O'Reilly, please bear with me, as I now part from doling out well deserved kudos to Governor Rell and Chairman Farr, both of whom have shown true courage, integrity and leadership in this matter, and now award some equally well deserved "pinhead" nominations to the collaborators of crime. First to Steven Hayes and Joshua Komisarjevsky. As with any accused criminal, I wish you both a genuinely fair and just trial, but if you are found guilty, I would gladly pay any price to have the privilege of injecting you both with the lethal injection, and not in an IV bag, but in the eye of your choice! If you are even guilty of 1/10 of that which you are accused of doing to this wonderful family who did absolutely nothing to you, to call you two worthless cretins animals is an insult to animals. If there is a thermostat to the eternal fires of Hell, start praying now that I never get within an arm's length of the switch! To "Iron Curtain" Mike Lawlor, you are more of a reprobate than a Representative. You have made a career of protecting criminals and all of society's ills and defecating on all that is good and all who are innocent and victimized. To hear drivel from a liberal spendthrift like you that the 3 strikes law would cost the state too much to build new prisons is akin to saying vomit is too good for an airsick bag. You are the personification of the radical left that has even hijacked the Democrat Party and ruined our state, country and culture. More pins needed for more heads: the editorial board of the New Haven Register. In your 9-20-07 online column, "3 Strikes Is Last Resort," you pandered the same pabulum. Never mind comparing Connecticut to California, take a look at what "Project Exile" did for the rates of federal crime and what the policies of Rudy Giuliani, both as US Attorney and as Mayor for New York did for crime in that city. The answer is enforcing the laws and maximum sentences. Would you and your socialist goombah from East Haven both be worrying about state costs if it were for some fluffy, utopian socialist do-gooder entitlement program instead of building more prisons? Your only excuse is that for all the extra prisons we build, the communist wannabe from the 99th district would let all the inmates out anyway. Considering that New Haven and its liberal failed policies by Mayor John DeSocialist and his personal puppet, valet and shoeshine boy, Police Chief "Yes Sir, Boss" Francisco Ortiz have created competition with Hartford as the most violent "Wild West City," your opinion in the rag that dares to call itself the Elm City's journal of record is worth about as much as an elevator in a out house. Considering how many shootings occur in New Haven on an almost nightly basis, perhaps you might consider worrying less about California losing money to prison space and more about your newspaper losing circulation as more of your readers get shot. By the way, to save costs on at least some of those new extra prisons, here's a novel idea: ship some of these vermin out to other states like then Corrections Commissioner Armstrong did during the Rowland administration, and I don't want to hear any more blubbering and boo-hooing from either the inmates or their families about the extended distance on visiting days. Too bad! If the families of our gallant troops can be separated from their loved ones for months on end as they serve to protect us overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, than the families of these low-life sociopath mutants can travel to Virginia or wherever else on Sundays to visit their fallen offspring. Pinhead # 3- Did I mention journalism before? I'm not quite sure exactly what change occurred that transformed airline stewardesses into flight attendants, secretaries into administrative assistants, or teachers into educators, but I think I have a pretty good handle on how reporters became "journalists." Certain "journalists" (besides just about all of the staff at the New York Times and The Hartford Courant) seem to have difficulty in discerning the editorial page from the front page. One such example is Susan Haigh's AP piece on page 3A of the September 21st edition of the Waterbury Republican American, "GOP Fails To get Home Invasion Bills On Special Session Agenda." Suzie, dear, I remember when you used to write for the New London Day. Trust me, your jump to the Associated Press is like going from "Day" to night! You sound jubilant about the GOP failing to pass this bill. Why didn't you tack on a "YAHOO!" at the end of that abysmally biased title? Hey, Suzie Q, how about this version: "Democrats Refuse To Protect Vulnerable Constituents From Barbaric Crimes By Predatory Recidivist Felons Currently Free On Our Streets"? That would be my take, and still without a "YAHOO!" at the end. Suzie, I know the score is Democrats 1, Petits 0, but try to at least feign containing your partisan glee. That kind of yellow journalism is akin to the folks at MoveOn.org hoping the US loses in Iraq so they can say, "We told you so." Suzie, please, put down the pen. Here's a pin. Of course, I can't mention "Raggedy Mike" without also mentioning his sidekick, "Andy." (Do you want to see both of them tremble? Watch this: Hey, boys….term limits!") Lawlor's seemingly lifetime Judiciary Committee Co-Chairman, Senator Andrew McDonald is denying that the Democrats are obstructing the 3 strikes law from going into place. Instead, he wants to move "slowly, deliberately, but with purpose." (Take that for whatever it's worth…I got that quote from Suzie's "not so fair and balanced" AP piece!) Hey, Andy, in case you haven't noticed, the population of the town of Cheshire dropped by three people in one grisly night because the State of Connecticut, which was supposed to protect those poor souls dropped the ball about as easily as it loses laptop computers, so cut the tripe about moving "slowly, deliberately, but with purpose." You have three purposes, and they are all called "Petit," so try moving quickly and with zeal before someone else dies from a lethal dose of liberal legislative lethargic incompetence. But thank you just the same for not using the favorite liberal buzzword, "complex." Meanwhile, Andy, please bear in mind that although non-electoral, odd numbered years are reserved by you and your accomplice, Lawlor for your coveted pro-gay issues, we, your dying, victimized constituents would very much appreciate a 3 strikes law with some teeth in by 12:01 am on New Years Day, 2008. OK? So stop bloviating and start legislating! PS-You're still a pinhead! Last but not least, the rest of the pinhead awards go out there to some of our fellow citizens, who mistakenly took Eli Wallach's words in the movie, "The Magnificent 7" to heart: "If God had not meant for them to be sheered, He would not have made them sheep!" These would be the mouth-breathing dolts, with glazed eyes and drool hanging off their chins, with their underwear waistband situated slightly north of their belts, who can repeat the Yankees (or the Red Sox) batting order and team averages by rote, but are befuddled as to what a Congressman even is, let alone, which one is theirs. I recently had an interesting conversation with someone who has extensively traveled abroad in Europe. He told me that he is mystified at how Europeans thrive at discussing politics in the various cafes, where here, such a substantive issue is ironically taboo, and takes a far back seat to sports and TV programs. OK, so for the benefit of those so consumed by such trivial matters that have absolutely no impact at all on your life, such as grown adults playing a kids' game, I'll make it easy for you: "3 Strikes" struck out, it's the top of the ninth, the Democrats hit a foul, the Republicans got benched, the bases are loaded, and some big ugly hairy felon with a drug habit (other than steroids) wants to tag you out. Got it now? Now, what are you, fellow citizen, going to do about it? How many more Petits, or Smiths, or Joneses are enough? Doug Wrenn |
