11 million today; 100 million tomorrow How the Bush Administration plans to lose the culture war in one quick move By Tom Evers April 17, 2006 The last time we heard talk of the "Culture War on America" was when Patrick J. Buchanan ran for President in 1992. He received merciless ridicule from both the left and right and was condemned as both an isolationist and a racist by the media left. No they didn't say it directly, instead they just painted a nasty picture and let people fill in the blanks. Buchanan was vilified for attempting to protect United States borders from the onslaught of unskilled, non-English speaking masses, who were bringing their "own ways" of doing things - theft, rape, murder, intentional unemployment, and siphoning on the system. With a temporary reprieve from looking inward at what a cultural mess our country has become - courtesy of 9-11 and the never-ending hunt for Bin Laden - we find ourselves revisiting the greatest problem on our hands - which is not international terrorism, but cultural collapse and internal terrorism caused by the flood of illegal hordes of Latinos, Mexicans, and the like who penetrate our southern border on an hourly basis. This non-stop attack on our Southern border has all the signs of an intentional strategy by the Bush Administration to bring American to its knees at the hands of the pathetic masses. I know this seems like a wild, far-fetched accusation doesn't it? Well, let's examine the facts. For nearly a decade, Governors from the states of Texas, Louisiana, California, Utah, and New Mexico have begged the federal government to address the problem of illegal aliens flooding their cities. The illegals have been a huge burden on the state and local governments who have had to deal with the spike in crime, poverty, and decadence caused by the flooding hordes. Most notably, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson has decried the drain on his state's infrastructure - enough so that last year he declared a formal "state of emergency". The Bush Administration has intentionally disregarded calls for increased border patrol and security, and publicly came out against of erection of a physical wall and additional law enforcement personnel to protect United States' communities. Last year, a rag-tag group of volunteers - "the minutemen" - set up shop to help border patrol turn back illegal aliens, instead of supporting these heroes, the administration attempted to publicly humiliate and belittle them for their patriotic effort by unfairly calling them reactionaries and racists. The latest scandal by the Bush Administration is by the far the greatest travesty of the decade - the plan to move 11 million ILLEGAL aliens from the status of illegal (as in lawbreaker) to American citizen. When I first heard this idea, I was sure it was a joke, after all a nation founded on laws wouldn't simply waive the law and process for 11-million people (plus those who've entered in the last five minutes) and provide them complete access to citizenship, and complete access to our welfare system, social security system, medicare, medicade, public housing, food stamps, and any other privilege (including the right to vote) which is supposed to reserved for the law abiding, legal citizen. I mean - really - what are they thinking? Has the GOP fully lost competence? Is principle lost for politics? Do you think that even as a political strategy, all of these illegals are suddenly going to speak English? Become instantly skilled? Assimilate to American Society? Become productive, tax-paying citizens? Vote Republican? I mean this isn't exactly the GOPs constituency, is it? We spend millions of dollars creating red tape and disapproving productive would-be- citizens from entering the country from countries such as Great Britain, France, Spain, Germany and other European nations, but yet we open the borders to unskilled, non-productive hordes? Why? Why is the Bush agenda so obvious? Certainly, there is no political advantage for the GOP, and yet Republican Senator Lindsey Gram, another former conservative, finds this move both fiscally and morally responsible? I see, Lindsey, so you see no drain on the overloaded system? Has he lost his mind? Incredibly troubling is the gall of Hispanics across our nation who are marching and protesting on behalf of those individuals who are clearly breaking the law. You have to ask why the simple question - why are they are marching to support criminals coming across our borders? Perhaps the hope is both politically and ethnically motivated. Turn the United States into UniVision? Throw out the whites and seize control? Create more divisions in culture, race, and language. What an idea. The concept of learning English and conforming to American traditions is the antithesis of their plan. The Republican Party is beginning to see its own base erode. And endless war in the Middle East, a useless occupation of Iraq where nation building is failing and our men and woman are dying at an incredible rate, a government spending spree that appears out of control by all previous budget evaluations, and now - rewarding lawbreakers by giving them the keys to the American dream (at the expense of those who actually belong here). A year ago, I was proud of George W. Bush. And now I'm disgusted. While 11-million Spanish speaking people sack our Southern border, he sits there smugly - nodding and winking at his Mexican friends across the border. And when this illegal generation produces its ten dependent generations, what will we do then? We will look back at George W. Bush and say - he protected us from Arab terrorists, but also intentionally let the Mexicans overrun our country and culture. What a terrible record to leave behind. And with the GOP flapping aimlessly in the wind, lost direction and reversing its principle; Hillary Clinton could actually look like a shoe-in for the next general election. Thanks George, this one is on you! |
